We are devastated at the loss of our friend, colleague, and coach Marion Lane who died this morning (23rd March 2017).

For those who don't know Marion's background, Marion has been a coach for Tallaght Swim Team for 30 years. This is because she was part of the coaching staff in a previous iteration of the swim team before the "current" team as we know it was set up. Marion has been part of the coaching staff to numerous swimmers who have achieved national and international success, including National medals and titles as well as National Junior and Senior records and International representation. Much more than this she has helped many swimmers who joined Tallaght Swim Team achieve their potential and reach heights they may have previously thought unattainable. Her willingness to help swimmers in the technical area of their swimming was always clear and noticeable to any who watched her coach. I personally have had the pleasure of sharing in highs and lows of my swimming career with Marion who was as quick to celebrate achievements as she was to console losses. Marion's love for the sport of swimming shone through in her actions as a coach and as a swimmer herself.

The loss of Marion is indeed a loss to our swimming community.
