Summer Competition Results

Well done to all our swimmers who have had a busy June and July - time for a short break now to recharge the batteries for next year!  Tallaght swimmers have done very well this year, and we look forward to more success in the next season.

Irish Age Groups Division 2, Limerick, June 24 to 26

Tallaght was represented by Stephen Byrne and Christopher Murray at the IAG Div 2 Championships, where Stephen won a silver in the 200 Fly, and Christopher finished 5th in the 100 Backstroke.

Scottish National Open Championships, June 30 to July 3

Brendan Hyland competed along with other members of the High Performance squad at the Scottish Open Champs in Glasgow where he finished 4th in the 400IM with a new PB. Brendan reached finals in the 100 Fly (17th), 200IM (13th and PB), 200 Fly (9th) and 400 Free (14th and PB). He also swam a PB in the 200m Breaststroke.

Irish Age Groups Division 1, Dublin, July 8 to 10

We had quite a large team at the  IAG Div 1 Championships, with the relay teams giving an opportunity to lots of our swimmers to compete.  For space saving purposes here, listed are those who made 5th place or better in their events.
Unfortunately, at the time of writing I don't have information  on who achieved PB's.

Alyson Kelly-Byrne had a great weekend, with 3 medals - second place in the 200 Breaststroke, and 3rd place in 100 Breaststroke and 400 Free - plus 4th place in 200IM and 5th in 200 Free. There were three medals for Clodagh Flood, 1st place in 200 Free, and 2nd in 100m and 200m Fly. Also achieving top 5 finishes were Aoife Coyne (4th in 100 Breaststroke), and Aislinn Hearne (4th in 200m Breaststroke and 5th in 100m Breaststroke).

Youth Championships, Dublin, July 21 to 24

The best result of the Youth Championships was Brendan Hyland's 3rd place in the 200m Free, which saw him break 2 minutes for the first time with a PB of 1:57.98.  Elsewhere, Aoife Keogh took time off her 50m Free, but Holly Kelly-Byrne was unable to swim due to illness.

Youth Olympic Festival, Turkey, July 25 to 29

Clodagh Flood joins a team of 6 other young Irish swimmers at the Youth Olympic Festival in Turkey.  In her first day of competition, Clodagh finished 15th in the B Final of the 100m Butterfly. For more information on the Irish team results, see the Swim Ireland page here.
