Tallaght Swim Team

Tallaght Swim Team is a competitive swimming club based in Tallaght, Dublin 24.  Its members come from Tallaght, Firhouse, Knocklyon, Clondalkin, Rathfarnham, other areas of south Co. Dublin and from parts of Wicklow and Kildare.  Membership includes swimmers of various abilities, from those just moving up from swimming classes to those competing at provincial, national and international level.

 SPORTS NUTRITION, HYDRATION, LIFESTYLE ADVICE

Coaching Ireland has a great website, full of useful information about sports and coaching.  Included is a series of leaflets sponsored by Lucozade, all about nutrition, hydration, halthy lifestyles, etc. See the Coaching Ireland website for more information and free factsheets.


 DRYLAND - IMPORTANT NOTICE

All dryland sessions require an adult in attendance.  This is best practice under Swim Ireland guidelines,  protecting both coaches and young people and providing essential backup in case of injury or illness.

The same rules apply to dryland as to swim sessions - those participating should be signed in and parents/guardians should not leave the poolcomplex until they are sure the session is going ahead. 

It is not possible for team members over the age of 18 to act as the adult in attendance if they are taking part in the training session.

Coaches cannot proceed with a dryland session if there is no other adult  in attendance.

At the complex, Saturday July 4.  Swim from 5 to 6, snacks and drinks 6 to 7pm.

Swim Ireland AGM

The recent Swim Ireland AGM included a presentation by Kate Hills, the National Childrens Officer.  Attached is a copy of a slide summarising her talk, emphasising the idea that our young people should be at the centre of all aspects of swim team management.

FINA Rules

Stroke Rules: The attached rules were recently forwarded to all Irish clubs for issue to swimmers. Any swimmer entering a gala needs to know these rules.

IAG Division 2

June 26, 27 & 28, University of Limerick.  Another successful gala for our swimmers. Division 1 times for Daniel and Ryan, Finalists Certs or PB's for everyone else.  Special thanks to Lorcan and Aoife, our Team Captains, who made the trip enjoyable for the swimmers and helped out Paraic on the pool side. July 23 to 26,  NAC. Full details here.  Closing date for Swim Ireland is June 30, please finalise your entries with Mark by June 28. 

British Age Groups& Youth Championships

Held in Sheffield. Age Groups (Boys 14 and Under, Girls 13 and Under) 22 to 26 July. (Youth Boys 15 to 18, Girls 14 to 17).  28 July to 2 August. Qualifying times here.  Times are shown in 2 columns, 50m is Long Course QT, 25m is Short Course QT. If you qualify and want to attend this event, please speak to Paraic.
